Are you scratching your head trying to remember your password for that site?

Are you trying to figure out how to make a password strong and secure?

Based on this article by Gizmodo, here are a few of the most common passwords used by folks in 2013:

• 123456
• password
• qwerty
• 1111111
• letmein

If your passwords are common like these, think how easy it would be for someone who had less than honorable intentions to guess what your password might be.

Now, I’m sure you may, like me, have that one password that you love to use for everything which is almost even worse because once someone gets into one account of yours with that password, they will start trying that password for all other accounts including banking. Which would be bad.

It totally makes sense though.  You have so many passwords to remember so that’s why you use the same password – or slight tweaks of the same password over and over.

But what if you didn't have to remember all those passwords? What if there was a tool that remembered those passwords for you?

There is. It’s called Lastpass.

LastPass is a free cloud-based application to manage your passwords.  With LastPass, you just have to remember one master password and once you login to the service using that password you can login to any site with your saved credentials. And since LastPass is a cloud app, all your devices can use the same information – including your phone and tablet.  (If you want the ability to sync your password information across your mobile devices, you'll need a premium account which is $12/year and totally worth it!)

LastPass also has a Chrome extension that you can use to sit in your browser so that when you visit a site with saved credentials, it’ll automatically populate the logins for them. In the same manner, when you visit a new site and enter your credentials, the app will ask you if you’d like to save the password information.

You can group logins together based on topic or service or client (if you’re servicing multiple client’s WordPress sites for example). And you can use LastPass to help you generate a super-strong password and then use its service to remember it.
