Now don’t get me wrong, I make part of a living talking about what’s possible with side hustles. And I stand by that. But not everything has to turn into a hustle, as Molly Conway reminds us:
“We don’t have to monetize or optimize or organize our joy. Hobbies don’t have to be imbued with a purpose beyond our own enjoyment of them. They, alone, can be enough.”
She also talks about the larger issue of busyness and hustle culture. Do things purely for the joy of it. I wouldn’t want to turn my reading, work on jigsaw puzzles, or even dance into a business.
I do those things because they make me happy and help me recharge.
